MAT | Medication Assisted Therapy

IPS’ MAT program operates to treat opiate involved clients diagnosed with moderate to severe substance use disorders. IPS’ MAT program utilizes the medication Buprenorphine. Buprenorphine works two-fold by occupying opiate receptors and tricking the body into thinking it has been satisfied with opioids, without producing the strong feelings of euphoria, and respiratory depression; since the receptors are already filled with the Buprenorphine, if the client uses an opiate such as heroin or painkillers, it is unlikely they will experience any additional effects.
